Mooloolaba Triathlon 2023 - Race Report
Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival is always a fave event for our Adult Squad. This has been cemented further by the excellent experience had by our team of 20+ triathletes at Moo Tri 2023. With both Sprint and Standard distance formats on offer, Mooloolaba Triathlon is a top destination event for the whole squad from our beginner triathletes to our short-course enthusiasts and to those of our athletes who prefer suffering for longer ;D
Mooloolaba Sprint Distance Triathlon
The threat of wet weather on Saturday didn’t dampen the spirits of our Sprint Distance triathletes. Big smiles and thumbs up from Liz, Alison, Martina, Kitty and Marcus at the race start. There was also great support and club spirit from our athletes who were “resting up” for their race on Sunday and club members who came for the weekend just to cheer everyone on.
Mooloolaba Standard Distance Triathlon
With clear skies on the Sunday, it was a perfect day for our Standard Distance triathletes. The ocean was calm and everyone enjoyed the self-seeding rolling start. The usual strong head-wind heading out on the bike didn’t eventuate so we saw some fast bike times. It was a very hot run though which is usually the norm at MooTri. Despite the heat, all our athletes made it over the finish line with some PBs to boot!
Congratulations to all our athletes on their great results. Special mention to the following athletes for their notable achievements:
Tom Fowkes - 1st Place - Clydesdale Male Standard Distance
Liz Mellon - 1st Place - 55-60 Female Sprint Distance
Kitty Hamilton - 2nd Place - 70-75 Female Sprint Distance
Tim Young - Mooloolaba Legend Status
