JOEL HUMPHREY - NATIONAL CHAMPION!

About Joel …
My name is Joel Humphrey (17) and I’m a proud member of the Carina Leagues Triathlon Junior club. I joined the club at the beginning of 2022 with very limited experience in triathlon, and only 6 months of training up to that point. I can still recall how welcoming the entire club felt in my first few weeks of joining. This was especially thanks to the coaches Jordan and Cooper, who took particular care to make sure that the training plan was right for my fitness level. Since then, I’ve made so many great friends with everyone in the club. Thanks to the culture of the club, training is still an exciting and fun place to be.
Since joining, primarily thanks to the coaching and mentoring of Jordan and Cooper, I have been lucky enough to travel Australia racing triathlon at a national level. I also won the National Schoolboy Triathlon Championship in Devonport, Tasmania earlier this year, which I think is one of the best moments of gratification I have ever felt in my life.
The sport of triathlon really has changed my life. Thanks to triathlon, I have made some incredible friendships with my training partners, coaches, and competition too. This has all been thanks to the wonderful energy and spirit of the Carina Leagues Tri club, who have helped me along every step of my journey. I would highly recommend trying out triathlon with the squad, and I’m sure you’ll feel the exact same energy I did when I joined, and still get to experience everyday.
